Andrew Ross has retired from the practice of law after a distinguished career spanning more than three decades with Whiting, Ross, Abel & Campbell, LLP. He was a Certified Family Law Specialist, certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, since 1994. Andy practiced family law with compassion and a rare ability to help clients navigate the many challenges that come with divorce and the life transitions that follow.
Over the course of his career, Andy handled some of the most demanding matters California family law has to offer. His work included complex property division, valuable business interests, complicated separate property questions, emotionally charged custody disputes, and the establishment and modification of child and spousal support. He was a quick study, known for defining the real issues early and laying out settlement options that reduced the negative impact on families wherever that was possible, even in high-conflict cases.
Andy was named to Northern California Super Lawyers® every year from the list’s inception in 2004, and was included on its Top 100 Attorneys list for Northern California in 2008 and 2009. He was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Family Law from 2008 through 2024, and was named the 2017 Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year in Family Law for the Oakland metro area, covering Contra Costa and Alameda counties. He served two years on the Contra Costa County Judicial Evaluations Committee, as Vice Chairman in 2012 and as Chairman in 2013. He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Andy was born in Brooklyn, New York, and has lived in the Bay Area for nearly 50 years.
