William F. Whiting

William F. Whiting is the senior partner and founder of the law firm of Whiting, Ross, Abel & Campbell, LLP. He is a Certified Family Law Specialist and he was certified by The State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, in 1980 with the first group of California attorneys to be so recognized. He practices exclusively California family law. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Whiting is a past president of the Alameda Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association. He has been selected for inclusion in Northern California Super Lawyers® each year since its inception in 2004. Only five percent of lawyers in Northern California are selected each year. He was also included in the list of the Top 100 Attorneys in Northern California by Super Lawyers® in 2006. He was privileged to be named a “Best Lawyer” in the practice area of family law in 2015, 2016, and 2017 editions of Best Lawyers and is listed in Who’s Who of American Attorneys. He was born in Richmond, California.

Mr. Whiting has been a presenter regarding complex financial issues related to divorce. Recently, he presented regarding the “extraordinary high earner” exception to guideline child support (Family Code section 4057(b)(3)) and the treatment of equity compensation, such as stock options, as “income available for support.”
